I am going on a bit of a road trip in a few days. We are staying in Denver for about 6 days. I'm pretty excited about the whole thing. I'm really looking forward to the drive there. I've actually never been that far from the Ohio/Michigan/Tennessee area. Me and the girlie have been talking about going somewhere forever. This isn't exactly one of those kinds of vacations but, it is the free kind, so that works.
The laptop loaner is holding up pretty well. I really like typing on it. Very comfortable. The iPod is exciting to me one day and dull to me the next. The Nintendo DS is proving to be quite a hit. My girlie actually bought one the other day and she's been playing the crap out of Animal Crossing. Cool little game. I'm on the last level of the New Super Mario Brothers. It's pretty cool but they haven't really made much use of the whole "get big" thing. You use it on the first level and after that it is more of an annoyance than a help. I will probably start Metriod Prime: Hunters next. I'm pretty excited about playing that.
Speaking of Nintendo stuff. I dug around the other day and looked at all the hottest new rumors about the Nintendo Wii. If there is anything at all to them I will be pretty happy.
- The Wii will cost around $250.00.
- The Wii will come with the Opera Browser built in.
- An Opera Browser will eventually be available for the Nintendo DS (available in Japan at the end of July)
- The Wii has "standard" controllers as well as the floaty pointy thing.
- The Wii is backwards compatible with the Gamecube (it has four gamecube controller ports in the top).
- The Wii will come with emulators of the Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 (games will cost between $3.00-$10.00)
- The Wii will be released on November 3rd.
- The Wii will kick Sony and Microsoft's butts.
A good deal of those rumors are pretty rock solid. A few are questionable and hopeful. The Opera Browser thing has me really excited. Basically it makes the DS into a really great all purpose machine. I imagine certain sites won't display on it properly and that it will have a whole host of minor problems. Personally, If I'm able to check some forum posts, post to my blog, and write and save some notes I will be pretty happy.
